01 / Know your exits

They can lie.
The rule never does.

Every popup has a safe way out. Use the first control it has in this order. The trick is spotting it before the desktop fills up.

    X, top right

    Start in the familiar corner.

  2. 02

    X, top left

    No right X? Check the left.

  3. 03

    Close

    No X? Look for the word.

  4. 04

    Cancel

    Your last, perfectly safe exit.

A button or an underlined link counts the same. Tiny-looking controls still have generous tap targets. This is a game of noticing.
